Volunteer with us!
The Cookery, as a division of Lambscroft Ministries, offers volunteer opportunities for both groups and individuals.

First of all, thank you for your interest in joining with us! We’re excited to get to know you, and serve with you.
Given that we are (currently) primarily focused on serving men, some of the following volunteer opportunities are really only appropriate for men to fill. However, there are still places for women and children to become involved! Descriptions will highlight this specific need.
If you would like to sign up for any of these opportunities, or have any questions, please email Danae at danae@lambscroft.org.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Bible Study Teachers
Bible Study Teachers/Leaders are volunteers who commit to coming once a week for one month (certain topics/books may require a longer time commitment) to teach on a specific topic or lead the men through a bible study book or book on a certain topic. Most pressing topics: Father Heart of God, Purity, Identity, Elementary Discipleship principles, Forgiveness.
*Men only.
Mentors
Be paired with one of the men in the program and commit to meeting regularly with him and supporting him along his faith journey. Men with abundant ‘life experience’ preferred. ☺
*Men only.
Haircuts
A skilled volunteer is needed to come to The Cookery to help with student haircuts.

Individual & Group Volunteer Opportunities
Friends of the Cookery Students (No mentoring, counseling or rescuing. Just friendship.)
Friends of the Cookery Students are volunteers who have a passion to connect with others. This requires no counselling, mentoring, rescuing or financial assistance to students. It may look like taking a student to coffee, golf, a game, the park, workout, house church. Taking a student to Sunday morning 9am service and drop off at Cookery for work by 10:30am.
*Men, or dating/married couple.
Prayer Partners: Pray for our space, our students and staff and our customers.
Prayer Partners are volunteers who love to spend time ministering to others through prayer. They can come to The Cookery during restaurant hours and pray in and over our space. Pray over the prayer cards left by customers on our prayer wall. Pray with and for our students as conversations arise. Pray for any customers that either request it or are open to it as conversations arise. They can also pray from home with a list of our current students, staff and pressing needs.
Drivers: For Donated Food Pickups; Clinic Drop Offs/Pickups, etc
Drivers are volunteers who pick up food donations on behalf of Lambscroft and The Cookery during the week. These are also volunteers we place on a call list to take our guys to and from doctors and counselling appointments, pick up medications, etc.
*Men, or couples for driving students to appointments. Medication pick-ups are appropriate for anyone.
Friday Night Worship
We meet at 6pm every Friday evening at The Cookery. Volunteers are welcome to come and worship with us, as well as join in as part of the worship team or bringing the Word.
Lunches for the Homeless
We take sack lunches out to 2 specific homeless camps every day. These lunches include a sandwich, a snack, and a bottle of water. Our schedule is...
Sundays-Fridays
1-3 volunteers are needed each day to come to The Cookery and make 40 sack lunches. If in groups of at least two people, volunteers are welcome to deliver the sack lunches if they would like.
Saturdays
Our crew comes in at 8am to make these sack lunches for the homeless, and then we go out in 2 different teams to distribute to different locations. Anyone is welcome to join us on Saturdays!
Tuesdays
In addition to the sack lunches we take on Tuesdays, we would like to send pans of food to a camp site under the Jefferson Street bridge. There are approximately 150-200 people camped there in mini camps throughout. We will cook the food here at The Cookery, and are looking for volunteers to distribute this, with plates and utensils, around 11am. There is no need to serve each person - volunteers would leave an appropriate sized pan with the necessary amount of plates and utensils, and do the same at each campsite. Ideally, we would have volunteers going out in three vehicles, with a minimum of two men per vehicle. Women are absolutely welcome to come, but we do advise that there be at least two men per vehicle.
Construction Projects
Each of our Discipleship homes (and sometimes The Cookery) have small maintenance needs. If you are skilled in areas such as plumbing, electrical, basic fixer upper home-based projects, etc., please let us know if you can be available as projects/needs arise.
Hygiene Packs
Volunteers are needed to collect and make hygiene packs for the poor. These are Ziploc bags that can consist of shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, women’s hygiene products, soap, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, $5 meal cards (from somewhere easily accessible like McDonalds), socks, non-perishable snacks like Slim Jims or soft granola bars. In the colder months, we also like to give out Hot Hands hand/feet warmers.
If a larger space is needed for groups to bag up collected items, space may be available at The Cookery to help with this.
Thanksgiving/Christmas Holiday Meals
We serve the poor a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day each year. More information will be posted as this time draws closer.
Would you like to volunteer in a different capacity than one of the opportunities listed above? Please feel free to reach out and let us know what you had in mind!

If you would like to sign up for any of these opportunities, or have any questions, please email Danae at danae@lambscroft.org. Thank you for your support!
